Video: Veterans Talk National Security
 | What does a dependence on foreign oil, climate change, and national security have in common? That's the question several U.S. veterans were hoping to answer today in Minot. Operation Free is a group of national security organizations and veterans groups trying to draw the link between the three issues. Several veterans involved in the project are currently on a bus tour of the region, hoping to shed more light on these topics, and answer any questions others may have. Operation Free presentor, Eric Gage, says the United State's dependence on foreign oil continues to grow, and he feels spending our money at home would create several benefits. (Eric Gage, Operation Free) "We spend a billion dollars a day on foreign energy. Why can't we spend that billion dollars a day on our own soil, invest that in our own economy. The bi-product will just be a cleaner planet." Over the next few days, Operation Free veterans will hold similar presentations in Jamestown, Fargo, and several South Dakota cities. |

Video: Veterans tour America
 | US veterans travel the nation talking about threats to national security. At the top of their listclimate change. The National Veterans for American Power Tour stopped in Bismarck today. They say our dependence on foreign oil is actually putting money in terrorists pockets. And at the same time they say the climate change caused by carbon polution is a major threat to our nation and its soldiers. They say it's time to address that threat by making the switch to clean energy. Our energy policy is a problem. It's a national security threat. We have to change it. So its up to all of us to talk to our friends and our neighbors or our congressperson to tell them we have to change this and we have to do it now or else more people are gonna die and become injured." Either you support the troops and you support the country or you dont. If you frame it that way people have a hard time saying what about the coal companies. What about your kids? What about your grandkids? Do you want your grandkids to go fight in Iran 20 years from now so the coal companies can protect their profits? Who is gonna answer yes to that question? No one.
