The book includes a summary of applicable codes and regulations and a complete glossary of technical terms.

Customer Reviews: Good as a Primer December 19, 2007 If you do not know anything at the present and are looking for a quick and cheap intro to HVAC, this is a good place to start. The above reviewers all make valid points,this book does not live up to its claims/promises in the introduction and on the back cover. In short, if you are looking for a step-by-step do-it-yourself manual, then this is not for you (those type of books retail for $40.00-$100.00). However, if you want get a foothold or a broad overview, on HVAC, over a cup of coffee, then this one is a good value for the money. This book sells (used)as low as .08 + $3.99 shipping on some sites. There are all of ten pages covering how to install a boiler, and half of those are useless photos. Most of the photos and diagrams have nothing to do with what is being talked about in the surrounding pages, and when they are somewhat relevant, there is virtually nothing said about them. The book feels like someone was throwing stuff together to meet a page quota. I bought a bunch of Taunton's "For Pros By Pros" books which were great, very detailed, but written so that the average person new to the material could understand. Unfortunately, they don't have a book on HVAC that I could find, so I bought this one. I was very disappointed and am I currently seeking a new book to get me started on the basics of HVAC. What I didn't find out is how it really worked or how to troubleshoot it. Safety is the author's first concern and first chapter in the book. I could find nothing explaining how to correct the excess pressure causing my safety valve to drip at times.
